At this point, Gucci Mane is a Greek myth, a cautionary tale who buries his head in mountains of white and churns out mixtapes even when his identity is reduced to an inmate number. His newest effort, Brick Factory 3, is another full-length collection of new Gucci, in all his mumbled, onomatopoeia-ed  glory. This is not about quality control or marketing plans or branding--Gucci is an insatiable artist whose creative output has no off-switch, and his team probably works nights and weekends to facilitate that.

As for this tape itself, it's one of the sharper Gucci efforts in recent memory, on par with December's excellent East Atlanta Santa. Brick Factory 3 sports no fewer than six features from Young Thug; while there's no way to verify the exact time frame in which these tracks were recorded, most of the material sounds as if it was recorded more recently than hastily-released projects like Thug's 1017 Thug 3. "Heart Attack" employs Thugga's cracked warble to full effect, while Gucci bends and warps his baritone into phrases you should be saving for Valentine's Day text messages. If there's a roadblock, it's pacing--the record sputters and stops at one point on either side. But Gucci is as distinct as ever; the Thug- and Lil B-assisted "My All" is essential Guwop.

At press time, the most recent reports have Gucci being released from prison in December 2016, at which time he will begin serving three years' worth of probation. His travel could also be limited, which could curtail some of his touring plans.
