You can set your watch by Curren$y. The New Orleans rapper drops projects at a prolific rate, but unlike his contemporaries who take a more scattershot approach, Spitta has built a small empire by release good music in a simple format at a consistent rate. Now, he marches on, taking to his Twitter account to announce the coming release of Pilot Talk 3, which will hit the streets and the tweets on Apr. 4. Despite that seemingly endless slew of material, the first two installments of the Pilot Talk series are among Curren$y's signature works. While the former 504 Boy is seldom gracing red carpets or creeping into national ad campaigns, he's one of the most consistent touring acts in hip-hop and is a fixture on the festival circuit.

Curren$y's most notable release last year was The Drive-In Theatre, a predictably smokey, lived-in record that toes the line between youthful menace and aged consideration. Cuts like the breezy "M.P.R." catch his writing at its sharpest, flitting back and forth between linear narrative and swaggering shit-talk. Thus far, the only hint we have as to Pilot Talk 3's direction si the video for "Briefcase," a song that marks a welcome reimagining of Spitta and producer Ski Beatz's triend-and-true formula.
