Pharrell Says He Loves T.I.’s ‘Paperwork’ Album
Pharrell recently popped up on the cover of GQ and had some unsavory quotes about T.I.'s ninth studio album, Paperwork and its singles. Pharrell told GQ that he, "wasn't happy about the T.I. situation," and, "they did that record hoping for radio play, and they got nothing out of it...Great, you got your No. 1 hip-hop song. But what does that do for your sales?"
After the story hit the web and popped up on blogs across the net, Pharrell took to his own Instagram account to clear up the quotes from the story. Along with the cover art for Paperwork, Skateboard P wrote, "Let me clear up my GQ interview...I love T.I.'s album and I think he is a genius. There was another single that I thought was more appropriate for what is going on in society. But don't get it twisted, the single chosen still went number one." There has been no reaction from T.I. at this point and it seems like Pharrell's overall displeasure is more directed at the powers that be than the King of the South.
During the recording process, T.I. and Pharrell seemed to have great chemistry in the studio and T.I. went as far as saying that he thought Pharrell could help him rewrite history with the album. Paperwork was met with overall positive reviews and landed as high as No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
