Nipsey Hussle Moves 60 Copies Of His $1000 Mixtape ‘Mailbox Money’

The second part of his name says it all. Nipsey Hussle is about that paper. As promised, the Crenshaw rapper put up hard copies of his recent mixtape Mailbox Money online at $1000 a piece. According to the L.A. MC he had sold 60 copies of the expensive CD as of Tuesday (Jan. 20). Not bad at all. The 15-song project features appearances from Rick Ross, Dom Kennedy, K Camp, Trae Tha Truth and more as well as production from Hit-Boy, DJ Mustard, 1500 Or Nothin and others. The project is available free online which makes the feat even more impressive. This is just another notch in the belt of his Proud 2 Pay movement.

“It surprises me,” he recently told The Guardian. “As much as I believe in it. Every time I get a transaction, I get a text on my phone, and I’ve been hitting them back. The feedback and the connection I have with these people help me understand the psychology of the person paying $1,000 for some songs that, realistically, you could download for free.”

This of course isn't the first time he has upped the price on his music. Hussle tried a similar tactic back in 2013 when he sold 1,000 copies of his project Crenshaw at $100 a pop. Impressed by his hustle, even Jay Z reportedly copped 100 units.
