Last night (Jan. 21) on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Lupe Fiasco hit the stage to perform "Deliver," a single from his just-released Tetsuo & Youth. The song centers on the idea that some neighborhoods are so bad, food couriers will balk at a delivery. Unfortunately, Ty Dolla $ign was unavailable to join the rapper.

Tetsuo & Youth has enjoyed strong early word of mouth from fans and critics (including an XL rating from this publication), a return to form after 2011's Lasers and 2013's Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album (Part 1). The odyssey-like album (8 songs top the 5-minute mark) boasts an expansive list of collaborators. Trae Tha Truth, Glasses Malone, Fam-Lay, Terrace Martin, and Ab-Soul appear, alongside other vocalists like Nikki Jean and Lupe's own sister. Tetsuo & Youth's B-side is produced almost entirely by DJ Dahi.

This round of good press must come as a welcome reprieve for Lupe, who spent the latter half of 2014 embroiled in various battles over social media. There was his spat with Freddie Gibbs after the Pinata rapper took issue with Lupe's Ku Klux Klan costume from a video shoot; Lupe also found himself in the middle of the Iggy Azalea-Azealia Banks, well, fiasco. Moreover, there was the war of words with Kid Cudi and the controversy over who owned the beat for his single, the Dahi-produced "Adoration Of The Magi."

Tetsuo & Youth is out now. Lupe has asserted that it will be his last album on Atlantic Records.
