Yesterday (Dec. 4), Bryan Duncan, better known as Tiny Doo, pleaded not guilty to a conspiracy charge related to a string of shootings that occurred in 2013 and early 2014 in his native San Diego. Duncan, in custody since his June arrest, could face life in prison when he goes to trial.

The rapper is being charged under a California law that ensures a person who is an active affiliate of "a criminal street gang" and who "willfully promotes, furthers, assists, or benefits from any felonious criminal conduct by members of that gang.” Duncan is alleged to have ties to San Diego's Lincoln Park Bloods.

The specific benefits, prosecutors say, were derived from Duncan's 2012 mixtape No Safety, which they believe to have references to the Lincoln Park Bloods.

Duncan's defense attorney, Brian Watkins, isn't so sure. "“They’re charging Brandon Duncan with crimes that the District Attorney admits that he had no involvement in or even knowledge of," Watkins said Thursday. "That is the definition of injustice.”

The rapper, described as a "homebody" by his long-time girlfriend, is expecting a child in February. He is set to go to trial Jan. 23. Tony Doo he has no criminal record.
