Update (Dec. 10 6:10 p.m.): Turns out Run The Jewels member Killer Mike isn't really going on a college tour to speak to today's youth about our controversial society. In fact, according to Spin he doesn't even have a partnership with Gotham Artists. The company has been getting the word out about the rapper's availability to lecture at colleges, but no official speaking engagements have been confirmed. Looks like the media fell in love with the possibility.

Original Story: Killer Mike is the guy you hand the megaphone. While he made one of the best albums of the year (with El-P as Run The Jewels), 2014 may go down as the year Killer Mike became a political force in the mainstream. Appearances on CNN in the immediate wake of Michael Brown's August death reverberated with audiences who had never heard I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind. From the Darren Wilson non-indictment to Eric Garner's murder at the hand of a New York police officer, Mike's essays and television appearances have had the same succinct power as his music.

Now, Killer Mike is actively looking to bring his voice to college campuses. Gotham Artists, a firm that specializes in speaking engagements, has teamed with Mike to put together a college tour, citing a desire to "spark dialogue on college campuses across the nation on community building, race relations, and the landscape after Ferguson." Megaphone not provided.
