This is how you make a music video. Jean Grae's new self-directed clip for "underneathu," the standout song from her #5 EP, creates a fictional late-'80s public access TV show. She enlists her friends and collaborators as a band called The Everybody's Pregnant, and croons menacingly about ripping off her skirt. And it works.

Set on a Black Power-themed daytime talk show called Perspectives On Perspectives (hosted by a white guy named Chip Vanderhoeff III), Jean and the band—including Quelle Chris as Walt Chocolate—slink through the sultry number, swaying and beckoning in failing VHS quality.

#5 is out now.
