Talk about doing something admirable. After witnessing their high school's annual theater production curtailed by budget cuts, The Roots are intervening in hopes of bringing back life to their Alma mater. According to the Huffington Post, the legendary hip-hop group launched the CAPA Foundation to help the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts rebound from their losses.

"It cultivated us. It educated us," said ?uestlove. "This is more than just pay it forward or celeb guilt. This is necessary. ... It keeps you out of trouble. It helps develop your personality. If you take that away, you're just a machine."

CAPA's goal is to raise up to $500,000 annually for the first five years. Then, after that, they hope to raise up to $1 million a year. CAPA will work on purchasing books, restoring clubs, and after school activities.

"We're lending our celebrity to a school where we began," Black Thought said. "In essence, it's literally a back-to-the-roots situation for us."

Boyz II Men, and Jazmine Sullivan are among the other talented acts who attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts.
