PARTYNEXTDOOR Brings Out Drake At SOBs In NYC
"Is Drake coming to SOBs tonight?"
That was the question everyone was asking last night (Oct.23) outside of Sounds of Brazil (SOBs) before PARTYNEXTDOOR's debut New York City show (which was sold out). It was the third stop of his tour. Doors opened at 7 p.m. and thankfully so. Outside SOBs was chaotic. Hundreds of fans, hipsters, socialites, music industry executives and journalists were all trying to figure out how to get into the venue. That was the only frustrating part of the night.
As soon as you walk in the place was electric. From the naked eye it appeared that everyone was inebriated and was waiting patiently for PND to arrive on stage. It was good vibes all around and a healthy girls to guys ratio (cuffing season in full effect). Mist appeared on the stage and out comes the Toronto crooner to thunderous roars of screams and brights lights from everyone's cellphone camera. He ripped through hits from his debut project PartyNextDoor. "Tbh," "Wus Good / Curious," "Right Now," "Relax With Me," PND had the crowd in his fingertips as he performed. Everyone in the arena was singing each song word for word.
By the time he performed PartyNextDoor Two, the audience was freaking out, screaming on the top of their lungs because all of OVO Sound arrived and was sitting in VIP. PND went through hits off his latest project such as "Muse," "Thirsty," "SLS," "Sex on the Beach," "FWU," and "Options."
Eyes began to look back to VIP when security began to open up a lane for someone to come through onto the stage (which had a lamp and lounge chairs). Murmurs began to go around in the middle of PND set that Drake just walked in. If you seen video of PARTYNEXTDOOR's performance in Montreal (or just a fan of his), you already figured that the final song was going to be "Recognize" featuring Drizzy. Sure enough, as PND is performing "Recognize" out comes Drake to perform his verse and the crowd goes nuts (literally guys and girls screaming out his name). It was 11:30 p.m. when things were coming to an end. Before Drizzy left he praised PARTYNEXTDOOR and thank the crowd for coming out to see PND's first performance in NYC. As fans were wishing him a early Happy Birthday, he asked that they save their kind words for PND and not him because it was his artist night. OVO Sound took over NYC.
