Mass Appeal Records is growing something special.

The Mass Appeal crew took over Williamsburg, Brooklyn last night (Oct. 29)  to celebrate the release of Killer Mike and El-P’s Run The Jewels 2. After holding an event at Rough Trade the duo known as Run The Jewels made their way to Nitehawk Cinema to have a special screening of The Warriors (which El-P said was a heavy influence on the production for RTJ2), as well as a Q&A. For a Wednesday night, things couldn't be better. Viewers were treated with free popcorn, the drinks were cheap and quite frankly The Warriors is a movie all residents of New York (and the world) should watch. The crowd was very interactive during the screening—most were inebriated—and things went rather smoothly.

When the time the Q&A session was in full swing, out comes Nas—who's invested in the Mass Appeal label—down the stairs. He discussed how he appreciates the music that Run The Jewels are making. "This is a family thing and we was rushing down here to get with you guys," said Nasir Jones. But what made the night go from incredible to extraordinary was Nas debuting his new single, "The Season," which is produced by the late J. Dilla. He hinted earlier this month that new music was coming. Over J Dilla’s “Gobstopper” beat, "God's Son" puts his thoughts on wax about what inspires his music plus name dropping Jay Z, Jay Electronica and OG Maco's electric record "U Guessed It," showing signs that he is paying close attention to what's current. It was a great night. Nas thanked the crowd for coming, Killer Mike and El-P bought a round of Pabst Blue Ribbon for each person that was there and shook everyone's hand as they were leaving. This is the reason why Run The Jewels' fan base is so enamored with them. It's without a doubt the duo can rap their asses off and provide great music, but the humility and "everyday guy" vibes you get from Mike and El just makes you appreciate them even more.

Mass Appeal made a regular Wednesday night epic.
