Happy Birthday, Frank Ocean!

Today, Oct. 28, is the birthday of award-winning New Orleans crooner Frank Ocean. He is now 31.

Frank Ocean, who was born Christopher Edwin "Lonny" Breaux in Long Beach, Calif., in 1987, is best known for his chart-topping hit single, "Thinkin Bout You," from his highly acclaimed debut album, Channel Orange. Before Ocean began creating radio hits of his own, he acted as a ghostwriter for several artists including Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, John Legend and Brandy. The singer/songwriter who calls New Orleans home, joined controversial alternative rap collective Odd Future in 2010 and released his first mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra a year later.

Ocean made headlines when he came out about his bisexuality on July 4, 2012. Historically, pop culture hasn't always been too accepting gay or bi-sexual men and women, but upon making his revelation, Ocean was met with support from fans and artists alike.

As his career progressed, Ocean went on to work with even more in-demand artists like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Pharrell, Nas and more. We thank Ocean for bringing the music world priceless records like "Pyramids," "Super Rich Kids," "Swim Good," "We All Try" and more.

Originally signed to Def Jam, Ocean later went on to strike a deal with Three Six Zero Group. Amassing a dedicated fan base in a rather short amount of time, Frank kept his court waiting a drawn-out four years for his sophomore LP. With the working title of Boys Don't Cry, Frank was expected to drop the new album in July of 2015. But after massive delays, Frankphiles were hit with not one but two complete albums, Endless and Blond in August of 2016. Frank also released a limited edition magazine called Boys Don't Cry full of interviews and poems compiled by Lil B, Tyler The Creator, Kanye West and more.
