Happy Birthday, Eminem!

Today, Oct. 17, marks the birthday of Eminem, an artist revered as one of the greatest rappers ever. The rhymer born Marshall Mathers now turns 46.

Debuting in 1999 with his major label release, The Slim Shady LP, Eminem has gone on to have one of the most illustrious careers in hip-hop, ever. The Detroit rapper has released eight (six solo, two with his rap group, D12) platinum albums with eight releases debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard  charts. In 2003, he won an Oscar for Best Song for his track, "Lose Yourself," from the critically-acclaimed film 8 Mile, a movie he starred in to rave reviews.

He released The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the sequel to his 2000 mega-classic, The Marshall Mathers LP in 2013. The album was highly anticipated and is something that all of music is eager to listen to. Over the years, Eminem is widely recognized as one of hip-hop's greatest lyricists and one of the best rappers ever to do it.

After being largely dormant for the preceding few years, Em shook the world with his freestyle at the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards last fall, taking aim at President Trump for four-and-a-half minutes. A little over a month later, in December, Shady dropped off his Revival album. Eight months later, in August, he dropped off Kamikaze, his second new LP in less than a year's time. Naturally, both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
