Former Fugees Rapper Pras Is Suing The New York Post For $30 Million

Well damn. Always be careful about what you print. That's basic journalism 101. According to THR, former Fugees member, Pras, slapped the New York Post with a $30 million lawsuit because they wrote a damaging headline, which he claims is bruising his reputation.

The story which was published Oct. 5 had the headline, "Ex-Fugee Rapper Bailed On His Own 9/11 Benefit Concert." The story stated that Pras did not show up to a 9/11 charity which was designed to help his own organization, The Hope For Them Foundation. Pras' detailed complaint stated that he “has never owned nor been an owner, director or officer of the Foundation.” In addition, he wasn't guaranteed to perform. He continued his onslaught on the Post by saying that they falsely stated that MTV was sponsoring the event and that the check that he received for the event bounced.

"The drafting, publishing and dissemination of the Article was accomplished with a reckless disregard for the truth,” states the lawsuit. “The reckless ‘reporting’ would be deemed as such had a high school student drafted the Article. However, the authors are seasoned, experienced ‘investigative journalists’ employed by one of the most widely circulated newspapers in the world.”

Pras has demanded the Post to issue out an apology and retraction.
