Chris Brown’s ‘X’ Drops To No. 6 In This Week’s Album Sales (10/1/14)
Chris Brown's X drops to No. 6 on the charts this week, with sales dropping drastically from its debut week. After selling 142,155 units last week, the album sold 35,353 units over the course of the past week, representing a 75 percent drop in sales. Despite what may sound like a negative, only one non-debut album placed higher on the charts than Breezy's 6th studio album this week.
This week is a relatively quiet one for hip-hop, with no new projects breaking into the Top 50, and only four hip-hop albums in total placing in the Top 50 selling albums of the week. Lecrae's Anomaly was the highest charting album this week, placing at No. 22 with 15,249 units sold. That represents a fall of 13 spots from the previous week, and a 44 percent drop in sales for the Houston born MC. Jeezy's Seen It All album fell nine spots, placing at No. 23 on the charts. Jeezy's 7th studio album sold 13,986 units this past week. Iggy Azalea's The New Classic continues its success on the charts by selling 7,866 units this past week, grabbing the No. 37 on the charts this week. Wiz Khalifa, in a week where he is embroiled in drama surrounding his impending divorce with Amber Rose, sold 7,109 units of his Blacc Hollywood album.
Outside of the hip-hop world, Jennifer Hudson's 3rd studio album, JHUD, sold 22,046 units in its first week, grabbing the No. 13 spot on the charts this week. Jhené Aiko's Souled Out album sold 10,440 units over the course of the past week, placing at No. 31 on the charts. Finally, Trey Songz's Trigga continues to chart in the Top 50, taking the No. 46 spot with 6,407 units sold over the past week.
