Who knew that by ranting and dissing your record label that you could earn yourself a release date? After Tyga spoke his mind regarding his Young Money situation, days later, his single "40 Mill" dropped. Now, Lupe Fiasco's relationship with Atlantic Records is following a similar path.

Lupe and Atlantic always had a tumultuous love affair. Things took a turn for the worse earlier this week, when Lupe once again pounced on his label for failing to give his album Tetuso & Youth a release date. Today, it seems Fiasco's album will be dropping January 20, 2015, thanks to Anonymous, according to IBTimes. Anonymous is a group known for targeting injustice and right to free speech.

After threatening the label, the hacker group said they would "launch a direct action against your website, your associates, and your executives." It appears that Atlantic complied.

A statement was made by Anonymous regarding Atlantic's decision to ultimately give Lupe a release date:

24 hours ago we released a short Twitter ultimatum. We called upon record label Atlantic Records, responsible for releasing conscious rap artist Lupe Fiasco's long awaited Album. We demanded a statement from the label within 24 hours to release a date or we would unleash the complete and utter fury of our collective on their company and executives. 21 hours later they released a short Tweet citing the album and it's release date.

At this time it can be concluded that we have proved our point. We wish music that is educating the masses to keep being released. We will fight for that. Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common and others are the moving force behind conscious rap. This is music we will fight for.

Coincidence or not, Lupe Fiasco's new album is on the way. Right after news broke Lupe tweeted “V,” which refers to the group and symbol from the Guy Fawkes popular movie V for Vendetta.
