Kendrick Lamar Is Being Sued For $1 Million

Kendrick Lamar, of hip-hop's biggest stars, may be in a bit of legal trouble. Though good kid, m.A.A.d city is generally recognized as the album that broke him into the mainstream, many people will tell you that Section.80, Kendrick's debut album, is the project that really got them paying attention to the West Coast rapper. Unfortunately, it seems that a song off of that very album may have Kendrick in a bit of hot water.

According to TMZ, two musicians—Eric Reed and Willie Jones III—claim a song that they created, entitled “The Thorn” was blatantly ripped by Kendrick Lamar to create the instrumental for “Rigamortis,” one of the more popular songs off of Section.80. In their lawsuit, they claim that Kendrick Lamar took their music, and simply added his own lyrics. They say that their song isn't just part of “Rigamortis” but that it is the song itself. Reed and Jones say that Kendrick has not given them any monetary compensation or sample credit for the song. They are now suing Kendrick Lamar for “at least” a million dollars, including all profits and rights to the song. We will continue to update you on this story as it progresses.—Marvin Jules
