Hip-hop mogul Dame Dash is calling on the support of some of his music superstar friends in his $25 million lawsuit against famed director Lee Daniels.  According to the New York Daily News the former Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder named Kanye West and Mariah Carey as potential witnesses on Monday (Sept. 22) when he filed an updated complaint at the Manhattan Supreme Court.

Dash claims that both artists can attest to his financial involvement in such films as  “Precious,” “The Butler” and “The Paperboy.” According to the mogul, West and Carey both played roles in helping him build Daniels' success.

In addition putting up $2 million, Dash said he got West to promote the first film Daniels produced (The Woodsman) in 2004 by performing at specific venues where ads ran for the film. He said he also played a role in convincing Carey to appear the 2008 film Tennessee.

In the suit Dash is also suing Lee’s manager and co-producer Simone Sheffield for defamation of character and recently extended the complaint to Lee’s lawyer James Sammataro.

“Regrettably, it's easy to make allegations,” Sammataro said in a statement. “Proving the allegations is a different story, and the precise reason why the judicial system exists. Mr. Daniels looks forward to the court's scrutiny of the merits of Mr. Dash's misguided claims.”

As of late, things have been financially tight for Dash. Last month, it was reported that he was evicted from his upstate New York vacation home because he owed $162,000 in unpaid rent.
