Now he’s known as a TV Analyst and former NBA Champion but once upon a time Shaquille O’Neal had bars. Okay maybe that’s stretching it but he did release five studio albums including his platinum 1993 debut album, Shaq Diesel and collab with Biggie. He even caused all hell to break loose in the sports world when he dissed former teammate Kobe Bryant in a freestyle some years back. But it would seem that he has finally decided to lay the mic down for good.

When TMZ caught up with him to get his reaction to Russell Simmons saying he would have signed him, Shaq put the nail in the coffin on his rap career.

“I’ll never go back to rapping but if I had the opportunity to sign with him I would definitely have signed with Russell first,” Shaq said. “Would I ever go back [to rapping?] No man. I’m 45 years old.”

Recently TMZ asked Russell Simmons which athlete he would have worked with back in the day. “I wished I worked with Shaquille [O'Neal] earlier on as a rapper,” said Simmons before answering yes that he would have signed the big man.

There’s sure to be a few MC’s who will rest easier tonight now that this news is out.
