Kendrick Lamar may be the reason Flying Lotus has yet to drop his Captain Murphy album. According to the producer/songwriter, K. Dot recorded several verses over tracks he had previously recorded for the album.

He told Pitchfork, "I went on tour and he recorded to a bunch of my songs. I don't know if he's gonna use them or not, but he recorded a bunch of stuff, which is why there's no Captain Murphy album out yet. He took all my beats!"

At this time, Lotus is just waiting to see what songs Kendrick is going to use. "Yeah! At this point, I don't even know! But he took, like, 12, 13 of my tracks, man. I think he recorded all of them, too. I just don't know if they're ever gonna see the light of day."

Kendrick Lamar is one of the artists that will be featured on Lotus’ new album You’re Dead!. He said that that his new body of work was also to feature Pharrell, but due to his schedule and Pharrell’s lack of interest in the “all death theme,” it didn’t happen.

“I think the concept of the album was kind of off-putting to him a little bit 'cause he's, for lack of a better word, 'happy'" he said. "I think it might've been a little much for him, that trip, You're Dead!."
