Saying that Los Angeles is having a good year in music is like saying Nicki Minaj got a little attention for her "Anaconda" cover. LA is racking up some serious wins. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, YG, DJ Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign are all party of a new energy that is coming from the Golden State that's turning into platinum records and sold-out tours. South Central LA Native, Joe Moses is the latest embodiment of that energy.

Moses has figured out a way to take part in the upbeat party vibe that’s fueling the resurgence of Cali while keeping the rawness the area is known for. His songs, "Go Girl" produced by Ty Dolla $ign, "Do It For the Ratchets," the original version of Ty's hit "Paranoid" and the new single "Burn Rubber" featuring YG and DJ Mustard, have been staples in LA clubs. And that string of hits has his town's attention. With his newest project All Out (hosted by DJ Scream), he's looking to take his hit making ability to another level. He already has a mixtape with DJ Drama and the LA Leakers under his belt along with co-signs from Waka Flocka Flame and Akon. As the video for "Burn Rubber" makes its debut here on XXL, the man born Joseph Allen, is ready to take over the world.—G. Valentino Ball

XXL: You have a couple interesting influences. What was it about Birdman and Master P that affected you as an artist?
Joe Moses
: I will break it all the way down for you. With Juvenile it was the way that he spoke. The slang that he said. It was different. With Jay Z, he just has it all. You can’t get no better than Jay Z. Everything he talks about he’s living. Then you have 2Pac. Everything about 2Pac was just real. He was a poet. Then you have Birdman and Master P. It was their grind and the way they did things. They are family oriented. They were still surrounded by the people they came up with. I want to take my team and build it from the ground up.

We’ve been seeing a resurgence of hip-hop from LA over the past couple years. What do you think about this whole new movement?
It’s great. Everyone that’s really getting their shine on right now I've been working with them for years. I know their struggle. I know everything thing they’ve been through because we were all going through the same things together. From ScHoolboy Q to Kid Ink to YG to DJ Mustard to Nipsey Hu$$le to Jay Rock, we all were hitting the market at the same time. I’m really like the last on out of the whole bunch to really get my just due and get my shine on.

You have got some great co-signs. DJ Drama, DJ Scream and the LA Leakers have all worked with you. What is it that’s making these high powered DJ’s come to the table?
It could be a person that has a buzz worldwide from the city that’s bigger than my buzz. But when you actually come into the city a lot of people know that LA is my city. I’ve been having the city for a couple years. No disrespect to any other artist because we all rock. Everybody gets their time and I feel like my time is now. So when they come to the city I’m the first person they point to. I’m the first person to take these guys to the strip club. Or have 30 or 40 dudes around them and everything is straight. They see me everywhere. They see that everything we talk about is 100. That’s what it was with Drama. That’s what it was with DJ Scream. Those are my brothers for life.

Tell us about the ”Burn Rubber” video.
The "Burn Rubber" joint is still one of the biggest songs in the city. It's me, DJ Mustard and YG. Produced by DJ Mustard and DJ Official. We dropped it on Mutard’s mixtape but he song is still crazy right now. Everybody got behind the video. Everybody came out. Its was just perfect. Its really showing the new West Coast. Back then it was lowriders and Chuck Taylors. Now its CL 550s and Maseratis. Its young dudes in the city that got that. We just bringing a whole new way of life to the city.
