This is why Kevin Durant hooked up with Jay Z. The Mariano of the Marriott, Jay Z, is giving Nike until Wednesday (Aug 27) to match Under Armour's lucrative $265 million deal for the services of the NBA's reigning MVP, according to Business Week.

Roc Nation Sports is working on securing a 10-year/$265-$285 million sponsorship deal with Under Armour. Durant's alliance with Nike dates back to 2007, his rookie season. The Under Armour deal more than doubles Nike's previous deal with Durant, which was seven years for $70 million. The MVP had a memorable season posting career a high in points, averaging over 32 points a game.

This would mark another big move for Roc Nation Sports. Earlier this week, Jay Z's agency opened up its reigns to boxers and brought in David Itskowitch to serve as the COO of the boxing division. During the MLB off-season, Roc Nation Sports landed Robinson Cano a $240 million deal with the Seattle Mariners.
