Super producer Timbaland definitely believes that his upcoming album Opera Noir is his best project yet. After comparing the upcoming body of work to Dr. Dre’s Chronic album, he is now comparing it to Prince's Purple Rain.

In an interview he told RollingStone, “this is my Purple Rain solo album that I'm going to put out. I have no features on it. It's called Opera Noir and it's the most innovative work I've ever done. It's all about truth and what's going on around us. It's about my personal truth: It's one of the things that MediaTakeOut will care about, but I'm telling you what happened.”

Since dropping weight Timbaland claims to be a whole new person and plans for his new LP to reflect that change. As far is it being his Purple Rain, the rapper says it maybe his last as solo artist, so he want to make sure it has an impact.

“It's my grand finale. It's my voila. This is why you call me Timbaland. This is why you say I'm the greatest who ever did it,” he said.

Opera Noir may potentially be two parts. The “powerful album” will also serve as the theme to his new TV series on Fox called the t Empire, which will capture the struggles of creating the LP.

While Timbo has made it clear that there are no stars in this generation, he did give props to Drake, Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar. He also tipped his hat off to some of the younger producers in his field, including DJ Mustard and Hit-Boy.
