Cassidy's battle with Freeway is stuff of legend. Back when the Philly rappers were young bulls on the major rap scene, the two went toe-to-toe inside of a packed studio with Jay Z and Swizz watching from the sideline. The result is universally perceived as a decisive victory for Cass, with Freeway left asking for a beat as the "Hotel" rapper exits the room. According to Cassidy, it was Hov who unwittingly set up the spar. During a recent interview with DJVlad, Cass spoke on the recent resurgence of battle rap and ended up speaking on meeting Jay Z prior to his dispatching of Free. “I mean, I wouldn’t consider [Jay Z] my homie or my friend, but we met a few times. We talked a few times, but I don’t got a relationship with him like that," he said. "The most time me and Jay Z spent around each other talking was the Freeway battle. He the one that set it up. It was me, him, and Swizz in the studio before it all went down. So, that was the time I really spent the most time around him, And really talked to him and all that shit.”
