Beats Electronics And Apple Say Huge Layoff Rumor Isn’t True

Beats Electronics partnership with Apple is making news once again. This time for reports that Beats had laid off a significant amount of employees. According to the New York Post and 9to5Mac a rumored 200 employees were let go from Beats because of redundancies between the companies.

Apple is now disputing those claims. The technology conglomerate stated that there have been no layoffs at their recently acquired company and that all employees have been offered full-time jobs. Despite the being offered full-time employment, many Beats employees were informed that their positions could be subject to elimination in three months to a year.

"Every single person is going through Apple orientation, they're signing up for healthcare," a Beats source told Billboard.

Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr explained that Apple plans to keep on as many Beats employees as possible. "We're excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee. Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple."

The merge primarily affects the jobs of those who work in human resources, finance and legal. At this time reports don’t confirm if there are any problems with the integration Beats Music's technology into iTunes.
