Ab-Soul Honed His MC Skills On BlackPlanet
With These Days... officially out, Ab-Soul dropped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club for an entertaining interview. With wifey, Yaris Sanchez by his side, Soulo touched on how he and Sanchez got together, These Days... and beginning his career on BlackPlanet.com.
"I started rapping on Blackplanet[.com], really trying to get into it," said Ab-Soul. "Right, that’s where people went to hook up, but we were up there rapping, seriously. Typing. I know it still goes on to this day. It was so crazy. Niggas use different HTMLs and colors with their shit. Fonts, italics with the words you rhyming with. It was so tight. That’s where I honed my skills, for sure."
The lighthearted interview caught Soul in a happy place as he was laughing and joking around with the Power 105.1 team for much of the twenty-minute interview. If you have a minute, it is definitely worth the watch:
