Along with a stellar acting career, Mike Myers will always be remembered as the guy standing next to Kanye West when the unpredictable rapper uttered the words "George Bush doesn't care about black people" on national television. Myers, who hasn't been in a film in five years, is on a comeback trail and recently sat down with the popular men's magazine, GQ. During the interview, Myers was asked about that night in 2005 and claims that Kanye made him aware that he "was going to take some liberties" when it was his turn to talk. Myers also said that he was "super proud to have been next to him" during the moment.

As the interview wore on, Myers eventually gave his views on Hurricane Katrina, the aftermath, and response by the federal government:

I assume that George Bush does care about black people--I mean I don’t know him, I’m going to make that assumption—but I can definitively say that it appeared to me watching television that had that been white people, the government would have been there faster. And so to me that’s really the point—the look on my face is, to me, almost insulting to the true essence of what went down in New Orleans.

It may be too little too late for Myers at this point but at least he is speaking up on the incident instead of cowering away from the question.
