Iggy Azalea Is Featured On Jennifer Lopez’s New Album
Yeah. I don't know—with "Work" I did Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert. I just like it, 'cause I like to pick classic films, or films that have marked culture, and I like to remake them, kind of to go with the whole New Classic thing. I think it's cool to get a new generation interested in things that maybe they kind of missed. Like, I noticed that a lot of people thought that "Fancy" was a remake of Mean Girls. It's generational, that. [Laughs] So I think it's cool with stuff like that, for them to be able to re-discover something that they may have looked over, and I think that that's always fun.
So these are movies that you grew up watching?
Yeah, they're kind of like my personal favorites, just from things that when I was a kid that I loved, or that I watched over and over again, or that I think are cool fashion moments, or that are cool cultural moments that have defined culture. Maybe not hip-hop culture, but I think that they have defined pop culture, in a way. Especially Clueless, with its fashion and the '90s [influence], I think it did.
Iggy Azalea is becoming a popular go-to and staple in the features department. From working with Keyshia Cole to Pop sensation Ariana Grande, Iggy is making her presence felt. Apparently, she's caught the eye of one iconic female and has been asked to spare a 16. In her interview with Ryan Seacrest, she spoke about receiving the call to work with Jennifer Lopez on her new album A.K.A.
“She actually only asked me about two weeks ago, so I didn’t have to keep the secret for too long,” said Iggy. “When I opened on tour for Beyoncé, I had to keep that under wraps for months, which really killed me. So this is a breeze.”
The "Fancy" rapper touched on her adoration for J.Lo during the interview as well. “I love her,” said Iggy. “I definitely used to sit in my bedroom as a young girl and lip-sync Jennifer Lopez songs, so it’s very cool to have a song with her on her album.”
Azalea currently has two songs in the top 5 on Billboard. Her feature on Ariana Grande's "Problem" is a #4, while her own single "Fancy" sits at #3—making her the third female to have two top five hits in the Hot 10o simultaneously.
