Everyone knows Kelis has never been shy about voicing her ill feelings towards Nas and their divorce. In a recent interview with the New York Times, she reveled the truth behind the rapper’s Life is Good album cover and the current state of his music.

When asked why did Nas still have the dress:

“It’s not even the dress. The joke behind that is that it’s the slip to the petticoat to my dress. I think when I moved out I just left it. That’s all he had, poor thing. He gave me a heads-up like two days before it was released.”

When asked if she knew why Nas used the dress:

“All kinds of ideas of why, but I don’t really care.”

When asked if the cover brought up any old feelings:

“Maybe for others, but not for me. I don’t really listen to his music anyway.”

Despite Kelis denying her official wedding dress gracing the cover of the album, the Queensbridge emcee has stated otherwise in countless interviews. Nas’ manager also confirmed with XXL that dress on the cover is in fact, her wedding dress.

“Yes, it was the real dress,” Nas confirmed in a VH1 Behind the Music special. “It was in the crib [and] I didn’t know what to do with it…she took her stuff out of the house and left her green wedding dress and that was all she left.”—Morgan Murrell
