Today, April 16, marks the 27th birthday of Chicago MC Rockie Fresh.

Rockie Fresh burst onto the hip-hop scene after releasing several mixtapes, most notably Driving 88, which caught the attention of Maybach Music Group head Rick Ross. After penning a deal with MMG via Atlantic Records, Rockie continued to build steam releasing The Birthday Tape, Fresh Veggies with Casey Veggies, and appearing on MMG's Self Made Vol. 3.

In 2016, Rockie made a full court press to reassure his position in the rap game by dropping a new mixtape for every major city he visits on tour. He started in January, dropping The Night I Went To... with features from Rick Ross and Chris Brown and has since dropped two more tapes, The Night I Went To Los Angeles and The Night I Went To Chicago.

Remaining quiet throughout most of 2017 and 2018, Rockie has still popped up from time to time to remind fans of the immense talent he's seemingly always been. In the spring of 2017, he unloaded songs like "You & I,' "Love Is War" and "On The Moon," understandably increasing the demand for new Rockie Fresh. In 2018, he linked up with his fellow Chicago MC, Brian Fresco, for a new single called, "Tonight." Here's to hoping for plenty of new tunes from Rockie in 2018.

Happy Birthday, Rockie Fresh!
