In September 2013, Gucci Mane was arrested for two incidents including allegedly threatening police officers with a gun. In December, the rapper was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon. With the case pending and a potential 20-year bid looming, Guwop looks like he’ll be catching a huge break by avoiding trial and negotiating a plea deal with the government.

According to court documents, “All parties anticipate resolution without the need of a trial.” Gucci’s trial date was set for April 15--which has since passed--and lawyers asked the judge to push the trial to a later date as they work out a plea deal.

The documents also state, “The parties believe they may have resolved this matter subject to certain approvals including a meeting with the Court. However, due to various schedule conflicts, counsel have been unable to finalize the matter and given defense counsels respective absence from the jurisdiction over the next week, will be unable to finalize the matter prior to the trial date.”

Gucci will likely see a reduced sentence and could escape jail time all together. Burr.—Peter Walsh
