Now that the NBA has banned Donald Sterling for his controversial remarks and called for the sale of the team a lot of people with hefty checkbooks are stepping up. Puffy and Rick Ross have been vocal with their interest in the team as well as entertainment mogul David Geffen and boxing champs Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya.

Add Dr. Dre to the growing group of would-be NBA franchise owners from the hip-hop world. The super producer ran into TMZ Sports and was asked if he expressed a desire to become anew NBA owner.

Some reports put the team's value at $7 billion. Dre is one of the hip-hop cats that might be able to get that type of cash together. As noted in the video he has been listed as one of hip-hop's wealthiest by Forbes magazine with a net worth believed to be in the $550 million range. The producer has been successful with his Beats Electronics empire and has seen his recently launched Beats Music app top Itunes charts as the most downloaded and top grossing music app.
