SXSW really kicked into high gear hip-hop-wise yesterday (March 12), with surprise guests, late-night sets, and a horrific, chilling conclusion to what was otherwise one of the most frantic, high-energy nights of the year so far. Here are five of the biggest shows, moments and performances that you missed from yesterday.

Snoop Dogg Comes On Stage With YG

YG was one of the main headliners at the Fader Fort at SXSW yesterday, and during his set he was joined by the likes of Ty Dolla $ign to help out. But it was when Uncle Snoop hit the stage that the place really started to pop. All three stood up alongside YG's crew to close the set with "My Hitta." West Coast stand up.

TDE Takes Over iTunes

Kendrick Lamar was the big headliner at iTunes Fest at ACL Live last night, closing down a show that also featured Isaiah Rashad and ScHoolboy Q, he of last week's No. 1 album Oxymoron. But the rest of the TDE crew wasn't going to let Q, Isaiah and K Dot steal the show—SZA and Jay Rock also came out and made cameos as well. TDE stays winning.

The Illmore Brings Out GOOD Performances

Illroots' The Illmore house has become the go-to late night spot to be at SXSW over the past couple years, and they've delivered more often than not. Last night, fans got to see Big Sean—and his fiance Naya Rivera—come through, and Travis Scott hopped up on stage to make a cameo with his GOOD Music brother. #Been #Trill held it down on the DJ sets as well, and you can expect more where this came from for the rest of the week.

Kanye West And Jay Z Can't Be Stopped

There's not much else to say that hasn't already been said, but this set—the first time the two performed an entire show together in a long time—was a two-plus-hour highlight reel of hits. No surprises, no guests, no big announcements—no Watch The Throne 2, for you conspiracy theorists—just two of the biggest names in hip-hop crushing the game and trying to one-up each other. This one was special.

Tragedy Overshadows The Night

The worst part of the night came in the early morning hours, when an apparently drunk driver skipped around a police checkpoint in downtown Austin, barreled through a barrier on Red River Street and accelerated into a crowd of people, killing two and injuring 23 outside a venue that was scheduled to host a show by Tyler, The Creator. Details that have trickled out today indicate that the car was stolen, and the man responsible—who is being charged with capital murder and aggravated assault—acted intentionally. A horrific end to the evening.
