Drake Is Disgusted With Rolling Stone
Drake isn’t very happy with how his recent feature interview with Rolling Stone came out—the Canadian rapper took to Twitter this morning to say that he was “disgusted” with the magazine, and to complain that they had taken away what was supposed to be his first RS cover story at the last minute because one of the greatest actors of all time died sadly last week.
So far, however, it’s unclear exactly what quotes Drake is upset about. Yesterday, Rolling Stone released a small portion of their story where Drake mentioned that Macklemore’s texts to Kendrick Lamar the night of the Grammys—where Macklemore essentially apologized to Kendrick, then Instagrammed his text for the world to see—were “wack as fuck.”
“This is how the world works: He made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov, Kanye and Kendrick,” Drake told the mag. “Whether people wanna say it’s racial, or whether it’s just the fact that he tapped into something we can’t tap into. That’s just how the cards fall. Own your shit.”
Today, however, Drake took to Twitter to say that he was disgusted with Rolling Stone because he claimed he never commented on Kanye West’s Yeezus, quotes which have yet to emerge as the magazine hits stands Friday (Feb. 14).
“I never commented on Yeezus for my interview portion of Rolling Stone. They also took my cover from me last minute and ran the issue,” he tweeted, above. “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil. I’m done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That’s the only way my message gets across accurately.”
Seems like more revelations from his interview are on the way. Drake has since deleted the first two tweets mentioning Rolling Stone and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. XXL will keep you updated as the story progresses.
