Based on "The Tanning Of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy" (2011) by Steve Stoute, VH1 is slated to air The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop, a four-part and four-hour documentary series.

The special, produced by filmmakers Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman of Rakontur, is scheduled to premiere on VH1 in one-hour segments starting Feb. 24th - Feb. 27th at 11 p.m. EST each night.

The film examines Hip-hop as a cultural movement and influential power in media, and is said to feature "never-before-seen footage and interviews" of Russell Simmons, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Al Sharpton and Tommy Hilfiger amid others.
