Which Rappers Have Received Oscar Nominations?

82nd Annual Academy Awards - "Meet The Oscars" New York

Yesterday, the Oscars committee unveiled the nominees for this year’s 86th annual Academy Awards, with films such as American Hustle and Gravity receiving a number of top nods. This year, Pharrell kept his incredible run of hit songs and top accolades going, receiving a Best Original Song nomination for “Happy” off the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, an honor that he said left him “speechless” and “over the moon.”

But Skateboard P isn’t the only rapper to catch the eyes—and ears—of the Academy. With special shoutouts to Will Smith (AliThe Pursuit Of Happyness), Queen Latifah (Chicago) and Jamie Foxx (Ray as a winner, Collateral)—each of whom left the music world behind to turn their full attention toward Hollywood—XXL has run down the prestigious list of rappers who have taken home the statue throughout the years. The EGOT (Emmy-Grammy-Oscar-Tony) could still be within reach—and we’ll find out if Pharrell can get one step closer at the awards on March 2.
