Raekwon Is Supposedly Holding Back The Wu-Tang Clan’s New Album
According to Popa Wu, The Wu-Tang Clan’s A Better Tomorrow album is almost completed, but is still missing verses from Raekwon. Initial reports from November 2013 insinuated The Chef was responsible for the project’s delay, and quotes from Popa’s most recent interview imply an on-going trend.
“It’s here already,” the OG revealed to Forbez DVD, before further explaining, “It’s just that it’s got to be closed up by Rae. Rae’s the only one that’s got to close up. Everybody did what they did…They even got the treatments for videos and all that shit. RZA’s ahead of his game right now. It’s just that Raekwon’s just compromising…you know how a person gets…when you’re a person that never had nothing and then when you get something and then its [taken] away from you, it’s hard to adjust back.”
Also, the Shaolin native suggested there’s still a rift among the group residing from unresolved disagreements based on the business aspect of the music industry, and hinted many of the MCs are holding a grudge against RZA.
“They think RZA did some old crazy stuff,” he says before continuing to the defend the super-producer, “RZA did what he did; you forgot he took y’all n*ggas from nothing and made y’all something.”
The Wu’s mentor made more supportive claims for RZA ruling with Iron Fists, adding: “In my mind, I don’t think he would do that to you. He was just smarter. He just took care of his business and it was up to you to learn it. He’s not supposed to teach you the business. If you mad with him for that, then that’s personal.”
This is no old news to hip-hop aficionados, who have been waiting years for a new collaborative project from the Wu-Tang Clan. Popa Wu agrees with the general public’s consensus. “Nobody wants to just see Raekwon by himself, just see Ghostface by himself,” he says when asked about his thoughts on the Staten Island-based collective’s solo albums, “They want to see Wu-Tang Clan.”
