Freddie Gibbs wrapped up 2013 on a high note. The Gary, IN. rapper released his debut studio album ESGN (Evil Seeds Grow Naturally) to the masses. Not only did his underground fans fucked with it, but also the mainstream equally praised his growth into a rap superstar. This year, though, Gangsta Gibbs is ready to put more music out.

While Gibbs and producer Madlib have Cocaine Pinata set for Feb. 4, he’s been in the studio chipping away at his new album called Eastide Slim. The former XXL Freshman says he’s about 75 percent done and we can expect it this year.

Despite announcing a new mixtape, Anybody Killanear Thanksgiving last year, it looks like he's scrapping that idea entirely. Here’s what else he told XXL on the phone earlier today:

Cocaine Pinata coming out. My new album, Eastide Slim, is coming next after Cocaine Pinata shit. I was gonna put out a couple of mixtapes and shit, but I am a hold back and put out this record. This Eastide Slim shit is coming together, I am about 75 percent done with it. After this Cocaine Pinata shit, this Eastide Slim [album] is definitely gonna break some motherfucker’s hearts. And I am gonna go on tour. Like I said, I am established [now]. I am trying to be the No. 1 independent [artist] this year. That’s what I am on.
