Do not mess with Wale. The DC native isn't shy to voice his opinion on situations and has a major track record. Today, Mr. Folarin called Complex after his album The Gifted—which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in June—was left off their 50 Best Albums of 2013. Furious because The Gifted was overlooked, Wale went H.A.M., threatening Complex’s entire staff and it wasn’t pretty (though he did make light of things with an Instagram response later). So XXL compiled a list of Wale's major battles against the world. —Emmanuel C.M. (@ECM_LP)

Wale vs. Twitter

On Oct. 26, Wale had enough of the Twitter universe attacking him online so he deleted his account. Rumors sparked that he deleted his account as a result of a song released by D.C. rapper Southeast Slim, aka Sace. The track itself is titled “Forever Hitter Quitter” and it finds Sace taking aim at Wale over the beat of Meek Mill’s “Dreams And Nightmares,” with Sace claiming that Wale left his old friend behind after finding success in the music industry.

Wale vs. Anime Lovers

Back in Oct. 9, while apparently chilling on his tour bus, Wale tweeted a relatively innocuous question to his fans. “What’s the best anime series?” Well that sparked a war between him versus some of his followers, rapper Xavier Wulf, and Sir Micheal Rocks of the Cool Kids.

Wale vs. Kendrick Lamar

When Kendrick Lamar verse of Big Sean "Control" came out, it sent hip-hop into a frenzy. Well back in Aug. 15, Wale gave his two cents on the situation to TMZ. “I still feel like I’m the best rapper on the planet,” clarifies Wale in the clip. “You should too, TMZ.”

Wale vs. Complex and Pitchfork

On July 15, Wale actually called out Complex while speaking to XXL on their lists claiming that someone at the publication has an issue with him. Complex, along with Pitchfork, received the brunt of Wale's tirade, during which he said, "Look at Complex, they put me the 13th best rapper under 30. 13th? Really? Come on, man. I’m not one of those people who think, 'Oh, the world’s against me,' [but] at some point you just gotta look and be like, 'Yo, this is ridiculous.' What, y’all want him to react? Pitchfork gave my album a five. I ain’t gonna put no other rappers name in this shit ’cause it ain’t about me and them, but I look at they rating for those and, come on, man."

Wale vs. The Media

When Rick Ross was shot at in a drive-by and narrowly escape death, Wale confront the media on Feb. 7, stating, “It’s a joke to y’all because y’all see him on TV everyday but what if that was your friend?" He goes on to say, "That’s my friend. I was talking to him last night about the football game. So, what y’all think is a joke is somebody’s health. I know his children. God forbid something happens. And I just lost one of my brothers so I don’t even play around with that stuff. I don’t play.”

Wale vs. Raptors Announcer Matt Devlin

In Feb. Wale got into a spat with Raptors announcer Matt Devlin at the Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards game after Devlin threw shade at the rapper. "Rudy Gay with the 3, and you see his reaction... and a fan heckling him," Devlin said. "And supposedly, this fan is a well-known local rapper. 'Wall-Ay.' Locally, here [...] Call me after the game, because I just torched for at least a dozen here in the second quarter, and counting. [...] Wale's inspiring, and I'm sure somebody on Twitter can tell me exactly if they've ever heard of Wale. He's not Drake, that's for sure."

Wale vs. Kid Cudi

Wale and Kid Cudi weren't friends for a moment. In a Complex interview, Cudi called out Wale:

"I really don't understand what's up with this guy, but he's just somebody I don't click with anymore. I started making changes in my life and started to realize positive energy around me, and he never really had a good energy. I never felt like he wanted to see me prosper, it was just one of those niggas that was envious rather than happy for a nigga. I could be reading it wrong, but I'm not making beef and rearranging my life. It's pretty obvious he feels some type of way about it. I'm not into peer mediation and working things out, I'm just trying to provide for my daughter and my family and making music for my fans. I vibe with certain people and some people I don't."
