Wale has always had a soulful side. Last night, BET aired the 2013 Soul Train Music Awards and the Washington D.C. rapper got the crowd moving by performing a rousing version of "Love Hate Thing," the single from his 2013 effort The Gifted. Joined by Stokley Williams, the singer best known from Mint Condition, Wale was supported by a horn-filled band and a line of snapping back-up singers who brought the contemplative but catchy track to life.

Wale wasn't just performing at the show. He also took home the award for Best Hip-Hop Song Of The Year, winning for "Bad," his hit with singer Tiara Thomas. Other rap winners of the night included Kendrick Lamar, who collected another accolade for Album Of The Year, and T.I., who picked up the Best Collaboration statue for "Blurred Lines."
