Kanye & Sway

While stopping at Shade 45 to talk about his recent happenings, earlier this year, Kanye unexpectedly flipped out on host Sway Calloway ultimately birthing the phrase "You ain't got the answers Sway."

Stemming from a conversation about rappers being shunned from the fashion industry, a common theme in Kanye's rants, Kanye became fed up and simply went off. Following Sway's question, “Why don’t you empower yourself…and do it yourself? ” Kanye began yelling at Sway and telling him that he can't relate to the topic. Eventually, the two made up and Sway even had t-shirts made.

Wale & Complex Magazine

“I’ll see y’all tomorrow. Get the security ready!,” were the last words between Wale and Complex after the rapper gave the mag a call because of his placement on their 50 Best Albums of 2013. Furious because his latest album, The Gifted was overlooked, Wale went ham threatening Complex’s entire staff and it wasn’t pretty.

Kanye & Jimmy Kimmel

After airing an unauthorized skit on his television show earlier this year, Jimmy Kimmel too felt the raft of Kanye West. Kimmel enlisted a child to read the transcript of Kanye’s three-part interview with the BBC, and Kanye wasn't feeling it, therefore unleashing a Kimmel inspired twitter rant, which caught everyone off guard.

The dispute almost erupted a Kimmel vs. hip-hop beef with Rick Ross even telling the host he was no longer "welcome" in the genre. However, the two later made up and televised it for the world to see. Check it out.

Gucci Mane & Basically Everyone

Gucci Mane's three-day Twitter meltdown was definitely a staple moment for the year. Taking jabs at rappers and industry folks, Gucci let just about everyone have it during his rant even threatening to shut the doors on his Brick Squad label.

But all was not lost as Gucci gained two million followers and wisely dropped his new album, Diary Of A Trap God, for free following the spectacle. Gucci later claimed he was hacked, tweeting that his former manager Coach K was paid $5,000 to hack his account.

Maino & Trinidad Jame$

Following Trinidad Jame$’ claims that New York’s rap scene has fallen off and that Atlanta runs New York musically, Maino was hot and heavy. Not only did the Brooklyn native unleash a tirade of tweets toward Trinidad but he even called Jame$ up and voiced his disapproval.

“You [Trinidad Jame$] was on that stage and you was having a moment.” Maino later explained of Trinidad Jame$ in a phone conversation with XXL. ”Whether you was high or drunk or whatever your moment was, that’s not how that came across. That came across as being aggressive, abrasive and disrespectful. You can’t go to no other city and do that.”

Angel Haze & Universal

Due to frustrations with her label, Angel Haze couldn’t wait any longer and unveiled the artwork and details of her debut album, Dirty Gold, which was slated for a March 3, 2014 release. Posting her entire album on SoundCloud without Universal Republic’s consent, Angel had found her wits end. Her album has since been moved up to be released in December 2013 and the storm has seemingly passed.

Peep Angel's letter below:

It’s so annoying that my label could tell me that if I fucking finished my album before the summer it would be out this year. I have gone to bat for this music. I have gone to bat for myself. I have literally sat fucking sleepless and starved crying over this shit. I turned down so much shit to be sure that I could finish this album because actually wanting something to me means doing all you can to be. Sure that it’s attainable. I stopped arguing my point. Stopped giving a fuck about everything. Let these other ditsy bitches disrespect me I turned my fucking cheek because MUSIC IS ALL I FUCKING HAVE…and I know that’s the same for some of you.

I did everything I could for you I did not promise an album and not deliver, unlike every fucking one else. I sat my ass down and came up with this music WHEN I HAD NOTHING. Taking shit on the chin does not mean sitting back and letting the world beat and suck you fucking dry. It’s knowing something is bigger than anything you are or will ever be and sitting the fuck down and complying to get shit done. I’m sorry if I seem angry. But these are my dreams. The only thing I have in my life. Imagine having the only reason you’re alive being the very thing straining your existence. Ughhhh So sorry to Island/Republic Records, but fuck you. I got here doing this for my fans and if you guys don’t feel the same, it won’t stop me. Idc what happens after this. They will get the music they were promised. And you guys JUST MAY LEARN TO KEEP YOUR FUCKING WORD.

Azealia Banks & Lady Gaga

One of Azealia's more prominent battles this year, the Harlem spitter let Lady Gaga have it dubbing the pop star an all-time thief. Alleging that Gaga heavily imitated her “SeaPunk” style of music on the ARTPOP album, Azealia did not take this one quietly.

Speaking out in an array of tweets, Azealia said that her creation went mainstream but not to the likes of its creator. And this was not the only exchange between the two performers this year as Banks also called out Gaga for jacking her mermaid look at the 2013 VMAs and was dropped from Gaga’s “Ratchet” single.
