Will Eminem’s ‘MMLP2′ Be The Highest Selling Hip-Hop Album Of 2013?

The official first-week sales are in for Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and the numbers are huge. In fact, the album has already gone gold with 792,000 units sold, making it one of the highest debuts of the year. In hip-hop terms, only Jay Z and Drake had debuts that could challenge it. But it remains to be seen who will finish the year on top. Check below for a list of this year’s biggest hip-hop releases thus far and how much they’ve sold. Will MMLP2 beat them out come January?

Yea. Jay isn’t really 2X platinum (though the rules were bent for him). Em ACTUALLY moved damn near 800k in week 1 without having to give it away for free.

With the holiday’s on the way, Em will blow past 2 million before the new year. Probably do “Recovery” numbers when all is said and done.
