Today marks the ninth anniversary of the tragic passing of Russell Jones better known to the world as Ol’ Dirty Bastard. As a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, ODB was one of the most beloved rappers of the 1990s delivering such hits as “Brooklyn Zoo,” “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “Got Your Money.”
On November 13, 2004, Dirty collapsed his cousin RZA’s recording studio in Manhattan. He was declared dead a little while later. The official cause of death was an accidental drug overdose. Despite the tragedy, Ol’ Dirty’s name continues to live on through the rest of the nine-members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
RIP Ol’ Dirty Bastard!
