Hip-hop is a competitive sport. As a result, rappers have always been bigheaded and immodest about their own skill set. But recently they've taken it to the next level. No longer are they just bragging about the amount of money they have or their talents on the mic, now they're comparing themselves to gods, historical figures and even just other rappers who have accomplished more than them. Azealia Banks compares herself to Kanye West

Azealia Banks thinks she's the female Kanye West. To be fair, she is probably referring to the fact that the two have the same tastes and pull from the same inspiration. But, at this point, Banks is in no way a female version of Kanye, both in a musical sense and in terms of success.

Jay Z compares himself to William Shakespeare

The argument can be made that Jay Z is a brilliant writer. And when the president compares himself to you, you pretty much have a pass to compare yourself to whoever you want. But when Jay spits rhymes like, "Feds is still lurkin', because somewhere in America Miley Cirus is still twerkin'," his self-comparison to the greatest writer in English history kind of goes out the window.
