When Rappers Take Self-Comparisons Too Far

Hip-hop is a competitive sport. As a result, rappers have always been bigheaded and immodest about their own skill set. But recently they’ve taken it to the next level. No longer are they just bragging about the amount of money they have or their talents on the mic, now they’re comparing themselves to gods, historical figures and even just other rappers who have accomplished more than them. While many of the rappers making comparisons are talented and influential, it’s still a little weird to see them compare themselves to, say, a William Shakespeare. We compiled some of the most ridiculous comparisons.

Miss me with that Jay-z shit. You were trying too hard to sound smart. We don’t know if Shakespeare wrote all of his plays. And alot of Shakespeare’s shit sucks. Don’t fall victim to classicism Reed; Jay-z is our Shakespeare and the meaning behind that song shows how dope he really is.
