Throughout last night's Macklemore show at Madison Square Garden, the rapper went out of his way to give the audience a one-of-a-kind experience, prefacing most tracks with intricate back story. Before launching into an impromptu freestyle, with the aid of a looping machine and a talented backing brass band, Macklemore gave an oddly poignant monologue discussing the pitfalls of the iPhone culture. Namely, rappers don’t take as many risks with freestyle experimentation for fear that a verbal stumble could lead to a Youtube video haunting them forever.

We didn’t hear any stumbles in the resulting track, as the chorus aptly echoed “We sold out the Garden.”
