Eminem Says “Rap God” Lyrics Not Homophobic

Back in October, Eminem released "Rap God" to the public. The Detroit MC showed why many consider him a legend, displaying amazing wordplay and easily switching through a variety of flows, showcasing his versatility. However, the song came with much controversy because of lyrics that appear to be homophobic. This isn't something new for Em, as he faced accusations of being homophobic before in the past.

In a interview with Rolling Stone, Shady sat down to discuss the language in the song. He states that when he uses "F*ggot" in his lyrics he doesn't associate it to homosexuality. "That word, those kind of words, when I came up battle-rappin' or whatever, I never really equated those words..." Eminem says. "Yeah. It was more like calling someone a bitch or a punk or asshole. So that word was just thrown around so freely back then."

He later talks about the use of his many different personas, specifically his Slim Shady persona. "I think people know my personal stance on things and the personas that I create in my music," Em states. "And if someone doesn't understand that by now, I don't think there's anything I can do to change their mind about it."
