As November 26th also marks DJ Khaled's 38th birthday, XXL thought it appropriate to briefly reflect over the career of the hip-hop heavyweight. As Khaled has offered an array of hits to the hip-hop community, now hitting a point of successful euphoria, one has always wondered what steps he took to reach his present musical oasis, therefore XXL presents, "DJ Khlaed's Journey To Success."

Early in his career, Khaled started off DJing in south Florida at Power 96.5 FM. Then in 1998, Khaled scored a job as a DJ for M. Luther Campbell on Campbell's Friday night radio show The Luke Show. In that same year, the hip-hop group Terror Squad was established in Bronx and Khaled later  joined as a member.

On June 6, 2006, Khaled released his debut album Listennn. Released by Koch Records, it peaked on the US Billboard 200 chart at number 12.

In 2008, Khaled scored his first ever award at the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards. That night Khaled took home Best Collaboration for "I'm So Hood (Remix)") with Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Birdman, & Rick Ross; with just about all of them joining him on stage to accept the award.

Surely not the first set back in Khaled's career but definitely a scary instance. In April 2012 Khaled luckily escaped his tour which later blew up resulting in the lost of over 500,000 dollars of jewelry. While many thought the explosion would set back the release of his Kiss The Ring album, Khaled pulled through fulfilling all previously scheduled duties.

“Basically what I’m saying is this might be the realest blog, vlog, whatever you wanna call it,” says DJ Khaled in the clip above. “Shit like this I lost everything…So basically what I’m tryna tell you is this shit stressful, but it ain’t gonna stop what I’m tryna do. It ain’t gonna make me stop from climbing the mountain top.”

Now at the present, Khaled has released his seventh studio album Suffering From Success. Including just about every buzzing act on the hip-hop roster, seems as though Khaled may need to cop some high dose meds cause it can only get better from here.

Happy Birthday dawg!
