N.W.A And LL Cool J Nominated For Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Again

Another year, another slot on the ballot for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for both N.W.A and LL Cool J. This will be N.W.A's second year as a candidate, and LL's third go at the Hall.

The two hip-hop acts are the only rappers on a bill that otherwise includes Nirvana, Yes, KISS, The Meters, The Replacements and more. Rock Hall reps expect between five and seven artists to be selected for this year's class.

In order to be eligible for nomination, the artist must have released their first single or album on or before 1988. LL's first project, the Platinum-selling Radio, was released in 1985, while N.W.A's first single, "Panic Zone," dropped in 1987 in the build up to their seminal debut Straight Outta Compton the following year.

Public Enemy was inducted into the Rock Hall this past year, the Beastie Boys made it in 2012, Run-DMC made the cut in 2009, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five became the first hip-hop act to ever be inducted into the Hall in 2007.
