Hip-Hop’s Scariest Videos

Earlier today, Ice Cube dropped a Halloween-themed video for "Sasquatch" where Cube portrays the classic movie serial killer, Michael Myers, in the vid. While the video is sufficiently terrifying, it's hardly the first hip-hop video to leave the viewer feel chilled to the bone with terror. At times, hip-hop and horror movie iconography have gone hand-in-bloody-hand with each other.

Kanye West - Monster ft. Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z & Bon Iver

Kanye West's controversial "Monster" video features gory depictions of the dismembered bodies of women, severed heads and a vampiric Nicki Minaj brutally torturing a Barbie Doll version of herself.  Not for the faint of heart.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Da Crossroads

While it was undeniably classic and a huge hit for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, "Crossroads" certainly brings quite an eerie vibe. Playing off of life after death, the plot crafts together a scary set of scenes before exposing viewers to an unexpected ending.

The Geto Boys "Mind Playing Tricks On Me"

No song is more associated with the horror of Halloween than the Geto Boys "Mind Playin' Tricks On Me." The shockingly literal video features the Houston mob living out their paranoid fantasies that include hallucinations, mysterious stalking figures and Bushwick Bill terrorizing trick-or-treaters in a Jason mask.

Prodigy - Mac 10 Handle

In an ode to Geto Boys classic "Mind Playing Tricks On Me," a drugged-out Prodigy paces his room like a gangster Travis Bickle, plotting on revenge of his enemies, real or imagined. The video shot by the Dan The Man is so gritty that you can practically taste the sweat dripping from P's paranoid forehead.

Dana Dane - Nightmares

Dana Dane's "Nightmares" is the original hip-hop halloween track. Laying on a therapist's couch, Dana tells the tale of the terrors that haunt him at night.

DMX - Stop Being Greedy

On "Stop Being Greedy," spooky church organ howls and DMX's evil trademark bark immediately leave you on edge without the spooky visuals. However, DMX's tortured split personalities trying to crawl out of his body makes this classic scary clip.

Tyler, The Creator - Yonkers

Tyler, the Creator is indeed one who goes way outside the box with basically all of his video concepts and this one is no different. In the black and white clip, the OF member presents a creepy scenario in which he plays with cockroaches ultimately hangs himself.

Dr. Dre & Ice Cube - Natural Born Killaz

After the dissolution of N.W.A broke up America's scariest music group, Cube and Dre reunited for the first time in 1995 on "Natural Born Killaz." Starting with a primal scream that bleeds into the song's siren-like synth lines, Cube and Dre spin a yarn of remorseless violence unlike any other. As for the video, Dre and Cube sit atop a demonic throne in what appears to be the victims of an apocalyptic crime spree. Nihilism never seemed so fun.

Tech N9ne - Ft. B.o.B & Hopsin - Am I A Psycho?

In the video for Tech N9ne's "Am I A Psycho?," Tech, B.o.B and Hopsin play a twisted family torturing a young couple in a desolate, dilapidated country home. While Tech taunts the squirming couple and Hopsin stalks with a chain saw, B.o.B seems to play an eerie, bespectacled nebbish happy to watch the mayhem from behind a peep hole.

Azaelia Banks - Yung Rupunxel

One thing fans have grown to expect from Azealia Banks is an interesting visual and in this one she definitely cues the horror tactics. With lips serving as eyes,eagles in attack mode, and a spooky aura; this video indeed belongs on this list.

Earl Sweatshirt - Earl

In the viral video that started the Odd Future phenomenon, Earl Sweatshirt and his merry band of mutant teenage friends gulp down a lethal concoction of toxic substances that leave them in seizures, foaming at the mouth and bleeding from the nipples. The snuff film quality of the video comes directly that feels like it was shot on a cheap cell phone camera.

Eminem - 3 a.m.

One of the bloodiest videos made of all-time, Eminem's gore-fest of a video for 2009's "3 a.m." is shockingly grotesque. The video is littered with severed fingers, rotten flesh and opened arteries. The video's gruesome money shot remains Em submerging himself in a bathtub of crimson blood to his eyeballs.

Snoop Doggy- Murder Was The Case

Snoop crafted up a chilling video to go along with his classic rap track. As always along with bringing that native Cali flow, the rapper serves up a cautionary clip which results in his untimely death.

LL Cool J's - Ft.  Method Man, Redman, DMX, Master P and Canibus - 4,3,2,1

Although the song is far more remembered for the inadvertent beef it started with LL and Canibus, the video is also rife with spooky visuals in it's own right. The gang all dresses up in costumes for Halloween as a mummified Meth dances with a gang of Ghost-faced killers, Redman holds court as an evil ringmaster and Canibus rules the gridiron. Rappers love costumes, too.

Gravediggaz - Diary Of A Madman

No Halloween-themed hip-hop list is incomplete with the original harbringers of horrorcore. Gravediggaz spot for "Diary Of A Madman" remains a terrifying classic.
